Summer sun, city view, for a fee

Nothing’s won, nothing’s new

And it’ll cost you more than just money

Round there the streets aren’t paved with gold

Everybody hopes to die before they get old

And there’s no happy ending but the tale, it is told all the same

And no one will take the blame

So I just look the other way

Isn’t it easy to be selective in the things we see?

Lay awake, through the night, feel the pain

Is it fake, is it right?

A million faces but not a single name

And I’ve never toiled in a field of mud

I’ve never seen a river run red with blood

But then I start to wonder if that means I should stay the same

There’s no one else to blame

We are all complicit in the things they do
