Five minutes before my motion sickness starts to sink into

My stomach’s pit as we leave the ground

Floating right past my window glass is a perfect world

That’ll never last when we touch back down

It’s just miles and miles of earth

That’s getting eaten by the surf

But from up here I can’t feel an ounce of hurt

And Mother Nature sighs

And turns out the lights

And very softly cries for every one of us

For all the turbulent seas

Of humanity

That’s stricken by grief but striving for peace

Five minutes before I’m finished with the world I knew

But now I’m leaving soon

Well, I say my goodbyes to the burning skies

And then set my sights on the newly waxing moon

And the distant lights approach

So I grab my bag and coat

Because from now on to you, I am just a ghost
