The late night nurse checks in and she makes her rounds

Quietly she walks in 204

She checks Miss Johnson’s vitals and she writes them down

When she sees a young man standing at the door

He said, «My name is Joe, I’m her oldest son»

Miss Johnson moved her hand and gave a smile

He said, «I joined the marines when I was twenty-one

And I haven’t seen my momma in quite a while»

He said, «I can’t stay long you see

I’ve come to taker her home with me»

With a clipboards in her hand

She said, «I don’t think she can»

Late on that night, Miss Johnson passed away

The nurse made the call to bring the family down

She walked back to the hall to check on Joe

But discovered he was nowhere to be found

She told the family about Joe

They said that just can’t be so

And chills ran up her spine

When she finally realized
