The grandstanding, the exaltation

The accolades are overwhelming: «he's barely alive

The best shape of his miserable life»

Keep your head level on the tourniquet

Drawn and quartered in an accident

I’m doing everything that I can’t

Neither reckless abandon nor sleight of hand

Turn off the lights I’m turning in for the night

There’s no turning back I’m going down without a fight

I stole my soul while taking the life of a common man

Traded our livestock for bayonets

We’re going to war and we’re not coming back

Desperate attempts to strike the last match

The sharpest tools left alone in the shed

Alive with the glory of love

There are lessons to be learned

Ranging from inept into the absurd

From drowning in shallow waters

From storming the ramparts undeterred
