Dancing in the still of winter

The May Queen prays for sun

Writes upon her dead horse carousel

A diary of sorrows

And it seems a stranglehold on her yesterday

Is slipping away

The allure of all that shimmers on

Sparks a tinder’s dying flames

Her bated breath obscures the view

Through windows to a garden

Being tended to by sparrows

Perched upon the wither

Pleading with rain gods

To come wash her sins away

She thought she’d never make it back again

This storm is dying

And if you find that songbird in your heart

Seems strangely silent

The sun of all you’ll ever

Means all was never in your hands

There’s a tattered man with a guitar in his hand

That gently weeps from his dying soul

Drifters pay no mind and pass by

Like shadows of the crows

Missionary, sanctuary

Testifies with borrows words

Singing haunting melodies

But no one’s listening anymore

This crow knows when to fly away

From places nothing ever grows

In his dreams awaits a lady

Of the sparrows

Losing your way home

The quicksand it pulls you under

You thought you’d never make it back again

Here you stand to wonder
