This is my homeland, the place where I was born,\nAnd through my childhood, was safe and secure,\nLike many children, knew nothing of war,\nWe were playing and laughing and playing,\nHere’s another photograph of where we used to love,\nOur house was always a safe place to be,\nBut now it’s gone, only rubble and dust,\nWe were hoping and praying and hoping,\nOh, all has gone;\nThis is my homeland, the place where I was born,\nAnd like my father and his one before,\nWe’ve raised our families and worked for them all,\nWith our hopes and our dreams\nAnd our hopes and our dreams\nAnd then came the thunder and so many people running,\nFrom the cities and the battlefields,\nAnd as the bombs rained down,\nWe were hiding from the bullets and the guns;\nOh can you imagine how it has been for us to be losing everything?\nAs the world stood still we would never know what every day would bring;\nEvery day, every day, every day;\nSo we came to your country, you were there with open arms,\nTo give shelter from the storm,\nWe are doctors and lawyers,\nAnd all of us people like you;\nOh can you imagine how it would be for you to be losing everything?\nAs the world stood still you would never know what every day would bring,\nEvery day, every day, every day\nThere is always hope in the human heart,\nFor better days ahead
