Get out of bed, go downstairs

I put the TV on to catch the morning news

The furnace kicks on, I put my clothes on

Open up the curtains and let the sun shine through

I put my coffee in the console, get stuck at the light

I see your work friend, I give him a smile

We both lie and say we should have a drink sometime

I eat a piece of cake, its somebody’s birthday

I go back to my desk, look out the window for a while

At the smokers down on South Street, waiting around to die

I’m going on with mine

I take the long route, I drive by the high school

I go see Mama, get her out for a while
