Love This Time - Field Study

He ran away up North

And got himself a job baking bread til dawn.

He’d walk home in the riot of the colours.

And though he missed her fearsome

In these mornings he was calm, just following the river home.

The town would wake up and he’d sleep some.

And there appeared the Borealis lights.

And that where he will put his heart tonight

And that’s all he could hope for was love this time

That spring the ice cracked.

It made such a thundering racket.

It also marked the passing of the winter’s hefty fine.

The sound it made went oh

It was December snow and forty below and the sheer surviving it.

This was where he was steered by some fix put in his choices.

The gifts he got, the subtle and not, would in time grow in strength in him.

Yesterday was just noise between girls and the boys

And something else in his place was him.

And this is how it was turning out.
