Gold as a gong and robin’s egg blue

With a memory of you

In a cotton war bright dress you once wore

Jitterbuggin' on a pill and gazing at a Gatsby

At some god awful do

I was gingerly twisting, and watching enraptured

What else could I do

Years on in a winter cafe window

Proper hopper in the hurry home gloom

As the tail lights spidered through

You were cursing the folly of a 3 dollar brolly

In your after work makeup and still at work shoes

And you blustered through the room

You didn’t take to the shapes that I threw
