On the roof chimneys grin

Smoking their pipes like bitter winds forever

There’s nothing now

But broken glass

Shot to the touch

Nothing lasts

Like Romeo dressed in rags

I’m dancing like them

To the ring of the bell

Night is here ashes fall down

Like a rose on a ground in Timbuktu

Afternoon my arms are filled emptiness

Flowers sway between the cracks

Laughing like kids from the side of the tracks

And saxophones cried like the wind

From the top of the hill
