The waters high again this year

It rose up above the dock again

And swallowed up the yard

Remember how we walked out 100 yards

And it never got any more than waist deep?

Wouldn’t open from inside

(no matter how we tried)

Snowed in

It all drifted up outside

If it wasn’t 8 feet high

Then it wasn’t an inch

But last year we saw clear ground
