Raw Bones - Howling Sycamore

I shed off layers of self

One dark day at a time

I keep the pain that keeps me awake

I let go of all that I mirror out

There’s a lightning hidden in every teardrop

I aim to get hit by it

I want that charge right into my bones

And may the thunder after deafen my senses

While I’m lying down on this thought

Accepting it for what it is

One can only walk this illusion

For as long as the flame is lit

I’d rather split my eyelids open

And watch the snake crawling towards me

Let the cold blade be on my skin

I’ll make it burn

There are storms one should run away from

And there are storms one should make their own

I carry in my own destruction

I celebrate my own cacophony

I let it be as loud as the beast inside

May the roar wake me up every second that I live

I push my raw feet to keep on walking

May they bleed out ego at every step I take

I want to take it all in

The blood and the feathers

The agave and the salt

Departures and mournings

May the eastern wind open my eyes

And lift me up to face myself

To float again in this cage of bones

To feel like the aimless arrow does

To disappear into darkness

To reappear into light

And from the glare towards shadow again
