Quarks - HR

Once upon a time I picked up a magazine,

I can’t begin to tell you all the magical things I’ve seen,

To the secrets of creation, I was given on a platter the key,

And finally I figured out what was the matter with me.

It was quarks, hopping up and down on my head,

Quarks, popping in and out until I see red,

Quarks, to the left of me, quarks to the right of me, quarks.

I learned that life is just a series of random excitations,

And all my anxieties are just uncertainty relations,

Now at last, got me a reason why life is so boring and gray,

And I smile to think I thought it could be any other way,

No, got to be quarks, hopping up and down on my head,

Quarks, popping in and out until I see red,

Quarks, to the left of me, quarks to the right of me, quarks.

They crunch 'em into cereal, they pack 'em into pills,

They flake 'em into cigarettes and coffee, I cannot get my fill,

They mix 'em in the engine oil to make all the wheels go around,

Then they hide them in the armories, to shoot the enemy missiles down.

Every night I’m trying so hard to get to bed,

But jets of tiny particles are scattering all over my head,

They’re hiding in my closet right this very minute I know,

Life would be tough, if I did not love 'em so.

You know, if I could just get away, sometimes I wonder what life would be like,

But there’s just no chance, you know they propagate up to speeds of light,

Before I’ve even thought of it they’re in ev’ry move that I make,

Ignorance may not be bliss, but it may be all I can take.
