Rapture - Inure

I think of things that might have been

And ones that shouldn’t have

Wash the stains of time with excess

Bloodied from the past

I empty out the reason and fill it with discord

Whatever she bestowed in me

Has left me wanting more

Can I taste the rapture?

This bittersweet content

Fleeting moments had inside

Are now just floating in my head

Can you feel the fire

This aching to consume

The smell of the devoured

Is filling up the room

Rescue me, I ask you as

I’m choking on myself

I felt it passing through me

As you reached up to the shelf

Where the things kept are a mystery

Wrapped up inside some death

Awakened by the filling up

And drawing of my breath

Can I taste the rapture?

How am I to know?
