Rule and divide — lives claimed and devoured

Tainting the landscape — making us sour

A mind goes insane every hour

Fame can arouse us — celebrity status

I hide behind make-up neglecting my neighbours

People are dangerous: it’s pressed in the papers

We pass the blame but society shapes us

There’s got to be more but it’s hard to envision

We turn off television

Choose not to listen and silence the sound

Create our own drama with nights on the town

And we hide in the crowds

Virtually connected — our minds in the clouds

I’m writing for now as a means of escape

A break from the things that might keep me in shape

Society says to succeed and be great

It’s all about looks and the upkeep of taste
