Simple Dreams -

sometimes I’m a child

at times, an old, old man

but if I live forever

I will never understand

the evil of this world

is just too much for me

why do we keep each other

from the very things we seek?

the time we spend destroying

could heal wounded lands

if hollow men stop their fighting

and come with peace in their hands

these are just simple hopes

and simple dreams

I pray that this don’t turn out

as badly as it seems

it’s hard living here in the in-between

oh, God save us and these simple dreams

you keep on using God

to hurt all those you fear

that’s a poor way of making

any of heaven’s light clear

why not love each other

just like everyone needs?

and cure all this pain

so no more saviors must bleed

we should travel together

for we walk the same road

and work to make this world better

for we bear the same load
