Starless -

Torn from sleep I awoke into a moonless night, gently shaking with every breath

I took inside my lungs I lay there for what felt like eternity.

I swear there’s

something watching me…

The stillness shattered, can this horror taste my fear my body taken and

scraped over a broken mirror, dragged away from the warmth and comfort of the

light, into a darkness cold as ice…

I’ve prayed for forgiveness on my knees, with God as my witness I’ve deceived

these ghosts with a promise that I’ll never keep it’s just so damn tempting but

I’m overwhelmed by the pain and the fear, just a taste of what lies on the

other side of the mirror where the haunting whispers are drawing me nearer to

an infinite spiraling infernal vortex

A dying sun, a black inferno.

Radiant night, starless;

eternal

And so they carried me on shredded hopeless wings, ever marching toward the

deep «God, have mercy!»

He turned his head and looked away.

«Don't let them

take me!»

Behind his mask I see a grin.

«I don’t deserve this!»

I lived my life

without a sin yet here I lie amongst the damned.

Pitching me down under the ice

and blood, a broken angel screams «Here is your God!»

I am greeted at last by a glimpse of his agony, through the spacial distortion.

Contorted with rage, twisted with pain and unending misery, frozen in time,

ne’er dead nor alive, trapped inside this starless, eternal void

A ray of light finally crossed my eyes and I crawled toward it sobbing,

hoping it would save my life.

As we met I looked around me and the hellish

sight was gone, a familiar warmth around me as I gazed out at the dawn,

but I can’t forget, their faces haunt me, every time I close my eyes I’ve

joined them in that hell but I’ve walked in His shoes and I’ve prayed in His

church and I’ve carried His cross and I’ve spoken His verse, but I’m damned

'cause the devil got to me first, God, why is this happening to me…
