I took a breath and held it in

For so long that I passed out

When I woke, I was older than

Half the bricks that line this town

Used to paint with just black and white

While I slept, the colours fell

It’s all so loud, so very bright

Is this real?

I just can’t tell

No sir, I don’t want it anymore

I’ve waited hours for you, but now I’m gonna go

I’m no more the kind to sit and wait

But I’m glad I got to bathe here in your punch bowl

All I need now, some plain old whiskey

To wash my soul

Woke up and pinched myself three times

Not much changed except these bruises on my thighs

Walked down toward the giant mirror

What’s this unfamiliar smile?

I used to wait for someone to come

And take the weights right off of me

Instead of just getting stronger

I’ve forgotten how to dream

No sir, I don’t want it anymore
