Blankets drying over his old bed

Drop the casket in the ground

Ivory like the second time you married

Pure no more

And secrets found out

Sleep on the floor of a stranger’s house

Once familiar things can lose their shape

In the empty frame that’s taken its place

The phone rings

Early morning

Brought the bad news

There’s no good way to tell you

Sort through memories in my head

Look for meaning in things you’ve said
