There’s a 5 year old smiling at me

In a mermaid dress and no front teeth

She’s got her mom’s high heals on

Chocolate on her face

Dancing around like she owns the place

She makes me smile but it makes me sad

My oldest child, she likes the rules

Yeah, boundary lines make her feel secure

She’s eight years old going on 19

Taking care of her sisters and her mom and me

Crawl in my lap for a squeeze hug

She likes dressing up, she loves ballet
