Locked out of the clocktower on a late night Autumn walk

I was hoping for some time alone to clear my thoughts and unwind Neighbor

stopped to talk, something about construction on the block

I was thinking «I don’t really mind, I don’t really like to drive»

But I lacked the strength to simply stand there and disagree

Everyone’s aways searching for that easy camaraderie

Could have climbed the marble stairs

Pulled on all the levers that they keep up there

Guarded by the mice who never have any plans

Dancing to the music of the ticking hands

Working hard then soon enough I’m climbing the ranks

Just beneath the one who operates the cranks

Whispers of a secret plot to turn back time

They’re dripping from the leaders down through the pipeline

They’re saying that it’s simple, you have to close your eyes then this is what

you do:

Realize the past, the present, and the future all are inside you
