You ran so fast

To get right where you are

You look around and wonder why

All the friends you took for granted

Childhood memories all brushed away

Just for the sake of expectation

I won’t live my life that way

Peer pressure is just a prophecy

We are doomed to live out

I won’t waste time on intimidation

I don’t care if I’m cast out

High school kids just like the year before

Not struggling in academics

But setting new standards of who can drink more

It’s not their fault

That’s what they’ve been taught

But the biggest war will be on themselves

And it’s one that’s never fought

And won

I’ve won

I know you’re scared

Because I’m scared for you

You promised yourself something

And never followed through

And the prophecy comes true
